What is a Managed Account?

A Managed Account is an investment with a number of specific features which can benefit you.

  • You directly hold a unique portfolio of investments which reflect the Model Portfolio of each of your selected Investment Options. Your Portfolios are collectively known as your Managed Account.

  • You beneficially own the investments in your Managed Account. HSBC, as sub-custodian, will hold the investments and cash on your behalf.

  • An experienced Investment Manager manages your Portfolio. The Investment Manager develops a Model Portfolio which reflects the investment objectives and approach of the selected Investment Option. Your Portfolio applies these same rules.

  • As direct owner of the assets you receive all dividends with full benefit of franking credits.

  • You control your assets. While you may select an Investment Option, it can be implemented differently from the Model Portfolio. For example, when assets are to be sold, you can choose which parcels of the asset will be sold first from your Portfolio to reflect your chosen tax methodology.

  • With your financial adviser, you can select a tax methodology that suits you best.

  • The day to day administration of running direct portfolios is managed by professionals: Investment Managers manage your portfolio, a Custodian holds the investments and cash on your behalf, and IAS as administrator operates your Managed Account, and
    • undertakes transactions on your behalf,
    • handles all reporting and record keeping, and
    • provides online resources to help you administer and track your investments.
